Mary Moody Celebrity Speaking

Celebrity Speaking

Speaking at public events has been one of the highlights of my career so far! I love the interaction with the audience, and making people laugh is tremendous fun.

My first talks were to gardening clubs where I realised it came naturally to me, sharing stories and amusing anecdotes. Since then I have talked to thousands of people at events ranging from Dymock's Literary lunches with an audience of 900 eager book-lovers; to small groups interested in travel (France in particular); Himalayan trekking and the joys (and agonies) of memoir writing.

I am delighted to speak at any event, to entertain, amuse and inspire.

Public Speaking Opportunities

For ten years I was an Australia Day Ambassador, travelling around rural NSW to speak at community gatherings celebrating Australi'as national day.

I have spoken at many charity fund raising events, as well as corporate lunches and for institutions like the Art Gallery of NSW (there I spoke on the history of Claude Monet's garden at Giverney).

Topics include:

  • Running Away from Home at Fifty
  • Being Aussie in a French Village
  • Writing from the Heart (the art of memoir writing)
  • Journalism - then and now
  • Grandparenthood
  • The Long Table - a discourse on food and family
  • Behind the Scenes - working in television
  • High Mountain Trekking

Mary Potter Hospice

'Mary was a resounding success, so much so, that even still today (some 3 years after the event), I STILL receive positive feedback from attendees on their experience - some even asking if we would have her back to do it again!

I am privileged to share with Mary's fans and prospective client groups my own experience with the wonderful and vibrant speaker - Mary Moody.

Mary was our chosen guest speaker for a ladies 'High Tea' function for SA based Not-for-profit, The Mary Potter Foundation, whilst I was there in the capacity as Fundraising Manager. Much needed funds raised through this event supported patients and their families living with a terminal illness through the Mary Potter Hospice. It was the first event of its kind for the organisation, and Mary breathed life and great gusto into the event. It was a 3.5 hour function, and although Mary was obligated to only speak for around an hour (including Q&A), she very graciously and happily met , greeted and mingled with guests (99.9% of them avid fans of Mary's and her extraordinary life). She then gave a very entertaining (no holds barred) account of her life. It wasn't a regimented speaking engagement. It was a friendly down to earth engaging opportunity for guests to see the real Mary, and she happily shared stories of all her trials and tribulations she has experienced in her life that has got her to where she is today.

Mary was a resounding success, so much so, that even still today (some 3 years after the event), I STILL receive positive feedback from attendees on their experience - some even asking if we would have her back to do it again! I strongly believe that irrespective of whether you are looking at hosting a small intimate event, or an event with a thousand people - Mary will be a wonderful investment that will leave a lasting feel good experience for all involved.

I do not hesitate to recommend Mary. Be prepared to be 'wowed'.

Different Lives Luncheon

'Her energy, enthusiasm and warmth provided us all with a real appreciation of her life's journey from her childhood days spent at Balmoral Beach to the stark contrast of life on a farm near Bathurst. I still have woman comment on her talk.'
