Nothing is more fun than gazing at a blank canvas of grass and trees and then deciding on the shape of a new garden.
I have had three gardens in my life – at Leura in the Blue Mountains which began purely as an orchard and vegetable patch; then the garden that surrounded our beautiful farmhouse at Yetholme in central western NSW; and finally the garden we have started at Blackheath, also in the Mountains.
This new garden has areas for ornamentals – perennials, shrubs, climbers and roses; and a dedicated vegetable and herb patch in an area that also has a fabulous poultry house and an enclosed orchard.
